Is there a certain amount of time a landlord has to give your deposit back? (presume you get money back)?

By law is there a certain amount of time a landlord has to get you your deposit back? For example, is it thirty days from your move out date?|||Your lease should say so but in the absence of that it would probably be a 'reasonable amount of time'. Generally, a judge would consider that to be up to 60 days. But it's decided on a case by case basis and in order to recover it you may need to pursue legal action. (It does depend on the state.)|||Depends on your state, but I do know they have to give you interest back with it.|||It depends on your state. Some states require that they pay interest to you. Some states require they return in within a certain amount of days or they have to pay you back double. If they don't give it back to you (or only give you a portion back) then they need to give you an itemized list of what they charged you for. Google on renters rights and your state and you should be able to find the info you're looking for.|||Each State is different. Research the landlord tenant act of your State. There are usually strict time frames and requirements.|||Each state has a specific timetable. Also state laws vary as to when the deposit must earn interest that is to be credited to the renter.|||Dependent on the state, its either 14 or 21 days after he takes back possession of the apartment. This is usually the day, you move out. Remember, the 14 or 21 days is the time limit they have to mail the deposit back to you, so look at the postmark on the envelope.|||In PA and I think in most states it's 30 days from the day you turn in the keys.Clean well including carpet. Schedule a walk though with the landlord and discuss any damages he sees. A lot of landlords try to make you pay for normal wear %26amp; tear and they can not do that. Example--It's normal for carpet to show signs of wear. It's not normal for it to have stains or cigeratte burns. Use a couple of those new magic sponges and erase any scuffs from walls. If there are appliances be sure they are clean. He may want you to fill any holes where you've had pictures or other art hanging. Check your lease and correct anything that is stated there. You should get your deposit back in 30 days as long as you leave a forwarding address. Someone told you with interest and that is true. The account I hold my tenants deposit in pays 0.25% interest and that goes to the tenant.|||Usually it depends on the state. But mostly it is 30 days from the last day of your contract. In other words, say you gave 30 days notice on 4/1 and you move on 4/15. He has until 5/30 to send you your deposit back if you get one. Why? Because the rental period is 4/1 to 4/30. If you move before then, thats your right, but you have still paid until the end of the rental period month. So its 30 days after 4/30 that he needs to send you the deposit. AND he can wait until the 30th day to send it. Meaning you dont get it back in 30 days, he has 30 days to send it.|||In Oregon it must be post marked within 31 days from the day you moved out. The good part is if they fail to do so then they are required to double your refund. Did you give them a forwarding address? If you are approaching the dead line then don't call until after the last day for your state and get your refund doubled!|||Depends on your state. Washington it is 14 days from move out date. Some as long as 30...

They are required to give you an itemized statement as to the deductions from your security deposit.

Can't answer much more without knowing where you are.
