The overnight transmittal of tax refunds takes 8 to 12 hours or longer to complete due to the volume of transactions involved. Once the money hits your bank it can take several hours to churn through all of the transactions even if your bank posts in real time. Many banks still batch process at end of day, in which case it would delay access to your money by another 24 hours or so.
The information on the IRS WMR page is an estimate only. Don't make major financial commitments based upon those estimates.|||The IRS doesn't control the timing - your bank does.
